Felcom and the OITE are pleased to present a workshop entitled "Working and Playing Well with Others: Using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to Understand Yourself and Those around You," to be presented by Melanie Sinche on Thursday, December 6, 2007 from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Masur Auditorium in Building 10. Melanie V. Sinche is a National Certified Counselor and is qualified to administer and interpret the MBTI for both large groups and for individuals. She currently works as a career counselor, speaker, and consultant for research institutions across the country. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is the most widely used personality assessment in the world for understanding individual differences and uncovering new ways to work and interact with others. Once we understand how we relate to others, ourselves, and the world around us, we can learn how to work with others who view the world through a different lens. This three-hour session will use the MBTI to help participants understand their own and others' styles in order to enhance individual and team performance at work, develop leadership skills, and reduce workplace conflict through improved interaction with others. You must follow these instructions to participate in the MBTI workshop; please read the description and instructions thoroughly. Participants in the workshop will take the MBTI in advance and receive their results at the workshop. Results will identify a person's whole type made up of four basic type preferences, as well as a more richly textured picture of type and behavior using 20 additional facets that show how each person expresses his/her type uniquely and individually. The workshop will focus on using the assessments to develop strong working relationships and improve your ability to work in groups. If you plan to attend on Dec 6 and have easy access to the Bethesda campus: You must complete a paper copy of the MBTI at the OITE Office (Building 2, Room 2E06) BY OCTOBER 31. The test will take approximately 40 minutes. You can come in anytime during the following times to take the test: Monday, October 22 and 29: 12-3 PM Tuesday, October 23 and 30: 8-11 AM Wednesday, October 17 and 24: 1-3 PM Thursday, October 18 and 25: 10 AM -12 PM Friday, October 19 and 26: 2-5 PM If you plan to attend on Dec 6, but work at a remote location: Contact Kathryn Foisie (foisiek@od.nih.gov) for a paper copy of the MBTI. You must return the completed assessment to us by October 31. If you are unable to attend on Dec 6: You will have the opportunity to take the MBTI at a later date after meeting with a career counselor to discuss the instrument. We will inform all NIH trainees when this service becomes available in the OITE Scientific Career Counseling Center. Trainees at remote locations will also have access to on-site career counseling in the near future. Please contact Kathryn Foisie at foisiek@od.nih.gov with any questions. We are looking forward to hearing from you! TO REGISTER FOR THE DECEMBER 6 WORKSHOP, PLEASE CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINK TO COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION FORM.
